From oranges to apples to cherry trees, every different type of fruit tree will have little tips and tricks that help them to produce the juiciest, healthiest fruit. In general, though, there are a few ground rules you can follow to ensure great results:

  • These trees prefer rich, composted soil. Choose a soil that is rich in organic matter. This will add nutrients that the tree absorbs to grow healthier, juicier fruit. Fruit trees also need a lot of water, so make sure to use soil with good drainage.
  • Give them lots of sunlight. Some fruit trees are suited to different climates or times of the year, but there’s one thing they all need – good, consistent sunlight.Try to aim for around 6-8 hours of direct sunlight a day to get the best results for your tree.
  • Pick up dropped fruit. You might not be able to eat everything that your fruit tree offers you – and that’s okay! Just make sure that you pick up and dispose of fallen fruit that’s rotting on the ground. It can attract pests and diseases to your tree.
